MINI PROFILE OF NACCIA COOPERATIVE SOCIETY

National Cooperative for Commercial and Industrial Agriculture (NACCIA) is a registered Agricultural Cooperative society registered with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and CBN to engage in commercial agricultural farming, training and empowerment of its members.

Our initial plan is to provide one hectare to each participants on this programme in the first year and the main targets are the people situated around the location of such land arranged.

To achieve these objectives, it is the responsibility of the NACCIA to source for farmlands that will be arranged through lease arrangement for its stakeholders.

As a corporate body, we regularly lease hectares of land from any available source for the purpose of engaging in the Agricultural activities formed by our Cooperative members. Each member is given one hectare of land to plant specified crops which are already tied to off takers who are waiting to collect and pay such crops after harvesting. The crops for which we have stabilized off takers arrangements include Chilli pepper, Groundnut, Cotton, Maize, Soybeans and Wheat. In addition, the Central Bank through the Keystone bank is currently arranging a robust financial support for our farmers through Anchor Borrowers Programme. Each farmer will be given one hectare of land and depending on the assessed Economics of Production (EOP), funds will be release directly to the individual accounts which are all centralized in Keystone bank. However, disbursing of funds will be through the use of debit card issued to individual farmers and the accounts are jointly controlled through laid down programme of activities.

The projects principal aim is to address unemployment challenges, malnutrition, hunger and improve the standard of living in line with sustainable development goals objectives. The project will employ as many interested participants equivalent to the numbers of hectares available and will consists of mostly indigenes and other members of the society in which the land resides.

Presently the NACCIA model and initiative has continued to attract participants from every state of the federation. We already have over 150,000 subscribers in the first wave and more are still expected.

With the above, we believe every administrator in the field will be sufficiently informed to brief potential farmers and land owners. The lands are not FREE, every hectare attracts an harvest cycle of fees of N10,000 out of this sum N3,000 is retained at the headquarter at No,74 Ralph Shodeinde street, 2nd floor Ogun House, Opposite Federal Ministry of Finance, Central Business District, Abuja, FCT.
