Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs representing the State Governor, led the government officials, HIM Alayeluwa Oba (Dr.) S. K. A. Adetona ably represented by HRH, Kabiyesi Orimolusi of Ijebu-Igbo, and other eminent personalties from different parts of the country arrived at Aafin Dagburewe, Idowa for presentation of the staff of office to Oba S. K. A. Okuribido on Wednesday 24th January, 2024.

Idowa, an ancient town founded in 1540 by Oba Owa Otutubiosun, the 13th Awujale of Ijebuland, had been in co-existence as brother to Ijebu-ode, The town experienced serious troops of vehicles with an influx of personalities finding their ways to Idowa for the handing over of staff of office to the Dagburewe.

Other dignitaries at the event were members of Dagburewe-in-council led by Alhaji Otunba Aare F. O. Abiona, the Otunba Sokobieke of Idowa, Alhaji Otunba A. L. A. Owoyemi, former ICAN President, Alhaji Chief S. Tola Adebambo, the Chairman of Idowa Regency Council, the Kingmakers led by Alhaji Chief S. 'Niyi Adebambo, Alhaji Chief S. O. Ismail, Secretary of Idowa Regency Council, Chief (Mrs.) Bosun Shittu, Yeyemesho of Idowa, members of Idowa Club 50 led by Dr. A. R. Asafa, the 1st Vice-Chairman and Acting Chairman, Omoba Abdul-Waheed Apase, members of Egbe Gbobaniyi Global, members of Gregorious Club, Alhaji S. T. Hassan, the Chief Imam of Idowa and other Clerics, the Christian Association, the Oshugbos, the Iretes led by Kabiyesi Oba Abdul-Ganiyu Olusegun Awokoya-Yesufu, the Onirete of Irete, the Okuribidos, Elder Kola Ajayi and his fruend Lord Babatunde Oluwasanmi, Mr. Ade Ajayi, the President of Solace Club, Princess Kehinde Adekoya, Prince (Pastor) Bidemi Adekoya, the Alasalatus (Islamic women prayers warriors) led by Chief (Mrs.) M. T. Lawal, the Iya Sunnah of Igodo, and other illustrious sons and daughters of Idowa.

The adage used to say that "uneasy lies the head that wears the crown." This saying of our elders had been words of manifestation.

Recall that the process of electing Oba S. K. A Okuribido began a few months after the demise of his predecessor, Late Oba Y. O. Adekoya JP, OON, MICMC, which is about 10 months and 12 days ago, with the following stages passed through - series of Royal meetings at Idowa and Irete - nomination meeting supervised by the L.G officials held on Thursday 5th October, 2023 - the King makers led by their Chairman, Chief B. O. Adelaja, the Modisa of Idowa, elected and returned Oba S. K. A. Okuribido as the new Dagburewe on Friday, 24th November, 2023. - issuance and receipt of Kabiyesi Awujale consent - presentation of Ikaro (Royal gifts) to Kabiyesi Awujale and members of Ijebu Traditional Council on Tuesday 12th December 2023. Since then, the Idowa at large has been looking forward to God to let today come to the past in commemoration of the presentation of staff of office.

Truly, uneasy lies the head that wears the crown as Alayeluwa will proceed on with other processes and rites that will finally birth coronation.
